FINDING OUT - How we organise ourselves

In our unit about shelters under the theme How we organise ourselves, quite a number of students posted on the wonder wall about different types of shelters/houses found around the world. This is directly connected to one of our lines of inquiry for the unit. In order to answer their query, we brainstormed different houses/shelters they know and looked through the internet others that are unknown to them.

From the list we have, the students chose one to research about. When asked about what they think are essential to know about these shelters, they came up with 4 questions:

1. What is the form? (shape, colours, size)

2. What materials are used to make it? (directly hits some of the questions in their wonderwall too)

3. Where are these houses usually found?

4. Why are they made the way they are? (function/use)

As they will present the information they gathered in a poster form, exemplars were shown to them. They set the GOOD points of the exemplars and based their success criteria for the poster from them.

Most of the learners are in the process of finding information, while a few of them are working on their posters already.

After the spring break, they will share their findings by doing a gallery walk. We also have a special guest - Mr. Kohberg, coming over to speak about building sustainable houses.

Enjoy the spring break everyone❤️❤️❤️
